Call 011 873 4786What is a remover of goods in bond?
A road carrier licensed by SARS Customs to move goods that are still under customs control, before duty and VAT are paid. Every road carrier moving bonded cargo in South Africa must hold that licence. We do, with a road bond guarantee lodged with customs.
What has to happen before it moves?
Your clearing agent enters the goods for removal in bond, and Customs must process the clearance declaration before the truck leaves. We then carry it with the road manifest (DA 187) on board.
Where can you take it?
To our SARS-licensed depot in Germiston, about 5 km from City Deep, to a licensed depot you name, or to a bonded warehouse. We also move containers that Customs has stopped to a depot for examination.
Do I pay duty and VAT before it moves?
No. While the goods are in bond, the duty and VAT aren’t paid yet. The remover’s liability ends when the goods are entered at the destination, for example for home use, into a warehouse or for export.
Does the container have to be sealed?
Bonded goods normally travel sealed. Heavy or bulky goods that can’t practically be sealed may go unsealed if Customs authorises it, with conditions such as extra security, a full examination recorded on the manifest, or a set route and time.
How do you keep track of it on the road?
Our long-haul trucks carry two tracking units on separate networks and four cameras, watched from our 24-hour control centre. For high-value cargo, our own covert escort crews can travel with it, working to a method statement.
What if something happens on the way?
Any accident, seal damage or breakdown must be reported to the nearest Customs office straight away, and recorded. Theft or hijacking doesn’t release the remover from the duty and taxes, which is why the bond and the tracking matter.
Can you move hazardous goods in bond?
Yes. Our hazchem vehicles and crews are equipped and trained for every class except explosives (class 1).
What do you need from me?
The clearance declaration or bill of entry number, the container and seal numbers, the bill of lading, your clearing agent’s details, and where it goes.
How much does it cost?
Every move is different, so we don’t publish prices. Answer the seven short questions in the quote form, add the bond check if you like, and we come back with a quote.
